Professor Alison Holmes, Director of the Fleming Initiative, had a packed World AMR Awareness Week sharing our vision for fighting antimicrobial resistance across the globe.
British Embassy, Paris
Professor Holmes chaired a panel on Diagnostics, Surveillance and Data at a High-level Meeting on Tackling AMR. This event highlighted the critical role of diagnostics and the need to think globally and across sectors. It also demonstrated the longstanding relationship between the UK and France in addressing global priorities.
British Embassy, Santiago
Professor Holmes and her CAMO-Net colleagues were invited to present the CAMO-Net global AMR programme at a symposium with high-level national representation in the AMR space: an important step for Chile in actioning the UNGA declaration on AMR.
Edinburgh Infectious Diseases
Finally, Professor Holmes was invited to give a talk at the Edinburgh Infectious Diseases (EID) Winter Lecture. This is a highlight of the EID calendar, where an outstanding scientist or clinician is invited to give a lecture on a topic of major public interest. As well as Edinburgh Infectious Diseases members, a large proportion of the audience were members of the public.
The Fleming Initiative is grateful for Professor Holmes’ leadership and commitment to tackling antimicrobial resistance, in #WorldAMRAwarenessWeek and beyond.
